The Essays on Childhood project is pleased to announce the 2011 writers!

They herald now from West Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, and South Carolina.  They have also lived in Connecticut, Texas, New Jersey and overseas.  One was born the day Secretariat won the Triple Crown.  One was his state’s first-ever Peace Corps volunteer.  Two have experienced the recent loss of close family members.  Some are parents, some are not.  One finds herself unexpectedly on her own when her job up and disappeared.  Some are in their twenties, while others have achieved octogenarian status – and many are in the great in-between!

They are published authors and first-time writers.  One is a recovering lawyer.  One is an Affrilachian Poet.  Several are educators.  They know firearms and peace rallies, troubled waters and good times.  Some fight for environmental and social justice.  Some fight for entrepreneurs and small business.  All are finding a voice for their childhood experiences and their meaning.

They are diverse, talented, and courageous.  We are privileged to introduce you to them by name, and to bring you their stories this year.
